WHY ODPHI?

How has ODPhi enhanced your college experience in both business and social contexts?

Omega Delta Phi has allowed me to continuously learn more about myself and what it means to be part of a true brotherhood. When I first came to UW as a freshman, I was overwhelmed by the big campus and realized I would eventually have to step outside my comfort zone. Thankfully, I met some of the guys and they helped a tremendous amount with this process. After becoming a brother, I was exposed to another side of the college experience, apart from just studying and making sure you get good grades. I made friendships that I most likely wouldn't have and saw the importance of presenting yourself as a well-rounded individual. I can confidently say that if I had not joined ODPhi, I would not be the person I am today.

In what ways has ODPhi prepared you for your future?

By far, the most important way that ODPhi has prepared me for the future is by building up my time management skills. I was never great at realizing that time is valuable and that you need to use it resourcefully. College is a busy time for everyone. I was able to find a balance between school, working, socializing, staying healthy, and more. ODPhi also stresses professionalism amongst ourselves. We hold ourselves accountable for things that we were responsible for. This is a great skill to practice because in the workplace, you have to keep your promise of always performing to the best of your ability. Furthermore, ODPhi has connected me to brothers across the state and across the country from different chapters through networking.

Any words of wisdom for new incoming Brothers?

Never miss any opportunities presented to you. If you do something and later find out that you didn't like it, at least now you know. If you ended up opting out, you might have just missed out on making a lifelong friendship or meeting an employer. Times goes by  fast and you shouldn't spend all of it wishing you were out doing something when you have the opportunity to.
